Mumbai vs Chennai: Csk beats MI by 3 wickets

The 33rd match of IPL 2022 took place between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. This match was supposed to attract a lot of attention from cricket fans. Because it was the most awaited game. Whenever Csk and MI play against each other excitement of cricket fans lies on a different level.

The battle between these two teams always brings so many thrilling moments as well. And this match continued the ritual to provide full-on entertainment to the fans as it ended on the last bowl of the last over.

Mumbai Indians lost 7 games in a row

Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets and registered their second win in the tournament. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians and lost 7 games in a row. Mumbai still needs its first win in IPL 2022. 

Captian of CSK Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and opted to bowl first. So, Mumbai had to bat first. Mumbai could manage to score only 155 runs in 20 overs. It seemed an easy target to get.

But Csk had to face problems to reach the milestone of hitting winning runs. After many ups and downs, former CSK captain Ms. Dhoni proved that he is the best finisher of this game as he finished the game in his style. 

Losing the toss  MI came to bat first.  Mumbai Indians did not start well as they lost their captain Rohit Sharma and second opening batsman Ishan Kishan in the first over itself.

Both these openers returned to the pavilion without scoring any runs. The wickets of both these batsmen were taken by the young fast bowler of Chennai Super King Mukesh Chaudhary and pushed Mumbai Indians on the back foot.

Baby AB failed to impress

Young batsman Dewald Brevis, known as Baby AB, also did not manage to make any special performance in this match. 

This young batsman came out to bat at number three. But got out after scoring only 4 runs off 7 balls. After that Surya Kumar Yadav took over the innings of Mumbai Indians and started scoring fast runs.

Although he too could not live up to the expectations of the fans of Mumbai Indians in this match.

Surya Kumar Yadav played 21 balls and added 32 runs to the scoreboard. Mumbai Indians’ score was only 47 runs and they lost their 4 wickets.

Young Blood controlled the inning

But then the two young batsmen put together a vital partnership. Tilak Varma and Hrithik Shokeen shared a 38-run partnership to help Mumbai Indians reach a respectable score. 

Tilak Varma played brilliant innings of 51 runs off 43 balls while Hrithik Shokeen was dismissed after scoring 25 runs in 25 balls.

Mumbai’s most trusted finisher Kieron Pollard also did not manage to do his job in this match. He was dismissed after scoring only 14 runs.

But Tilak Varma and Jaydev Unadkat scored 29 runs in the last two overs and took Mumbai Indians to 155. Jaydev Unadkat played a short but important inning. Unadkat faced only 9 balls and hit 19 runs.

CSK start was not good too

The start of Chennai Super Kings to chase 156 runs, was as bad as Mumbai Indians. 

Chennai’s opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed without scoring any run on the first ball. 

In this match, the team management of Chennai sent Mitchell Santner as a pinch hitter at number three. But he could not play the role and only hit 11 runs off 9 balls. Daniel Sams took the wicket of these two batsmen.

But the team’s two most experienced batsmen Ambati Rayudu and Robin Uthappa handled Chennai’s innings by sharing 50 runs partnership. 

But Robin Uthappa failed to play big innings in this match and was dismissed after scoring only 30 runs.

Shivam Dubey, who was batting brilliantly in some matches, could not even finish the game this time. He returned to the pavilion after scoring only 13 runs.

Dhoni finished for CSK

After some time Ambati Rayudu also got out on a personal score of 40 runs. Then again Ravindra Jadeja did not contribute with the bat and added only 3 runs. 

Csk had to score 42 runs in the last three overs to win. MS Dhoni along with Dwayne Proteus led the team to victory. In the last over, Chennai needed 12 runs to win.

This target looked a bit difficult but MS Dhoni scored 16 runs in the last 4 balls to give Chennai its second win in this tournament. MS Dhoni faced 13 balls and played an unbeaten inning of 28 runs.
