ENG NZ DAY 4- Root, Pope in control of another run chase

ENG NZ DAY 4- J Root and O Pope are in control of another 4th inning run chase. England continues to be positive in their batting approach. J Leach leads the bowling with another five wicket haul.

ENG NZ 3RD TEST- Bairstow, Overton leads the fightback

Day 4 1st Session (ENG NZ DAY 4)

New Zealand started the day with 168 for 5 with D Mitchell and T Blundell at the crease. The onus is on them to make this lead bigger. The first of the day went for a boundary by T Blundell.

He hits another to the covers to the same bowler, M Potts, in his next over. D Mitchell hits his first boundary of the day in the 59th over to S Broad.

J Overton was introduced into the attack in the 63rd over. He was off the radar on his first ball and the ball went for a boundary. NZ reached the 200 run mark in the 66th over.

D Mitchell was given out lbw to J Leach. But he took a review and the replay shows the ball was missing the stumps with the height. (ENG NZ DAY 4)

The pair continues to pile on the runs and finished the first session of day 4 without losing any wicket. They were 254 for 5 after the first session.

2nd Session

T Blundell reaches his half century in 105 balls in the 88th over. His partner D Mitchell also reaches the milestone in the next over with a boundary at the backward point.

The partnership was finally broken by M Potts when he got D Mitchell lbw in his 18th over. The pair added 113 runs for the 6th wicket. D Mitchell made 56 off 152 balls with 9 fours.

New Zealand’s inning didn’t last long after that partnership as they were bowled out for 326. J Leach took another five for and for the first time took 10 wickets in the match. T Blundell remains not out on 88 off 161 balls with 15 fours.

3rd Session

England needs 296 to win the series by 3-0. They lost an early wicket in A Lees with a brilliant fielding from Captain K Williamson and T Boult. (ENG NZ DAY 4)

PAK vs SL 2022- Pakistan squad for SL series

Z Crawley hits four boundaries to T Boult in the 9th over. But he got out to M Bracewell in the 13th over. He, along with O Poper added 34 runs for the 2nd wicket.

J Root joins O Pope and the pair started to look good in the run chase. O Pope was playing his shots and ENG playing with the same positive approach like the way they are playing in this series.

J Root reverse swept N Wagner for a six in the 22nd over. ENG reached the 100 run mark with that six. O Pope completes his half century in just 66 balls. He hit three consecutive boundaries to N Wagner in the 36th over. (ENG NZ DAY 4)

J Root also reaches his half century in 78 balls in the 39th over with a boundary to M Bracewell. England finished day 4 with 183 for 2, needing another 113 runs to clean sweep.

J Root is batting on 55 while O Pope is batting on 81. England is on the brink of another 4th inning run chase. Let’s see how day 5 panned out.
